JAZZ IN JUNE AT THE COOLIDGE

By Film Threat Staff | June 18, 2002

The Coolidge Corner Theatre (voted the #1 theatre in Boston), public radio WGBH 89.7fm, and the New England Conservatory are teaming up to bring jazz films to the big screen accompanied by live performances. Each Monday in June, the Coolidge presents a new series of jazz documentaries preceded by live jazz combo music from NEC students.
This coming Monday, June 24th at 7:00PM, live music from Stem Cell Research will accompany the Boston Premiere of “The Miles Davis Story.” Eleven years after his death in 1991, legendary trumpeter Miles Davis remains the best known and most influential jazz musician of the last 50 years. To mark what would have been his 75th anniversary, British television’s Channel 4 commissioned this exploration of the man and his music, from his East St. Louis roots to rock-like international stardom.
