JACKIE BROWN

By Ron Wells | December 15, 1997

If you’re expecting some hopped-up blaxploitation extravaganza, you’re about to be disappointed. Quentin actually made a REAL movie, with believable characters and performances, rather than just repositories for clever dialog. He should keep adapting Elmore Leonard novels if it forces him to grow up. Who knew? What next? Kevin Smith directing Henry James? Pam Grier is amazing. Samuel L. Jackson better be careful, though. He’s going to get typecast if he keeps playing Ice-T.
