INDIE MOVIE

By Doug Brunell | May 22, 2004

“Indie Movie” is a jumbled mess of bad acting, horrendous dialogue, a plot that makes absolutely no sense, and far too many computer “tricks.” If I could give negative star ratings, I would. That’s how bad this is.

The plot involves movie bootleggers, a nuclear bomb in Los Angeles, Star Wars Fundamentalism, and the world premiere of a film called “Action Figures.” To explain any more would require a greater effort than was put into the script, for which, by the way, I couldn’t find a writing credit. Let’s just leave it at the fact that the actual story takes a back seat to the number of computer effects the director can force into each scene. Get the picture?

I wanted to like this film, and I think there are some interesting points being made here, but they are overshadowed by the movie’s multiple flaws, such as actors who can’t remember their lines and a story that seems totally improvised. That’s a shame, too, because the filmmaker was definitely trying to make a statement about the futility of mainstream film, but all he really did was give people one more reason to hate independent cinema.

I didn’t really understand this movie at all. It feels like yet another futile under/non funded attempt to satirize what? Mainstream film? Society as a whole? Is it an allegory for some nerdy repressed kid in school? Maybe the uncredited writer thinks they are going to famous and show up all the kids that beat them up in high school? I’m not really sure. While encouraging that we still have young people trying to be the next Smith, Tarantino or Lucas, this person clearly isn’t it. Hopefully one day L.Cseke/Danielle Sage/Dan Cooper will one day make a movie with a script worth putting their actual name on proving me wrong. I will always support indie films though. Despite the atrocity of the “Action Figures”, I support the arts and L.Cseke/Danielle Sage/Dan Cooper’s right to make said atrocious films.

Whoever Louis Cseke/Danielle Sage/Dan Cooper is, needs their head examined…they are crazy to be doing this for free! He/she is simply an amazing filmmaker!!! This is an amazing movie. What’s even crazier is that they did this for virtually nothing. Maybe Louis/Danielle/Dan should see a shrink, because anybody this good at filmmaking is crazy making no-budget short films for nothing.

After googling this Louis Cseke guy, it turns out he’s on some federal list of people who can never work taking care of people again because he has a felony conviction for patient abandonment. Of the last hour I wasted of my life on this stuff, that is the only thing that makes sense. It would take a sick freak to abandon a patient and a sick freak to make this movie!

This was the stupidest f*****g movie I’ve ever seen. Whoever Louis Cseke/Danielle Sage/Dan Cooper is, needs their head examined. What’s funny to me is that it was probably some idiot who thought they knew something about movies and attempted to wow us with their “delicate genius” of film. Maybe Louis/Danielle/Dan should see a shrink. Seriously. Worst.Movie.Ever. And I’m so glad it has turned out to be a nothing, not even a blip on the radar and that whoever is behind this will spend the rest of their lives working in gas stations because it makes all of us that give a crap and make constructive contributions to film look bad.
