IFC MIDNIGHT AND PHILADELPHIA UNDERGROUND JOIN FORCES IN OCTOBER

The Philadelphia Underground Film Festival (PUFF) and IFC Midnight are teaming up to bring Philadelphia free screenings of IFC Midnight films starting Friday, October 1, 2010. The films, including “High Lane,” “The Horde,” “Primal” and “Shadow” will screen outdoors at The Piazza at Schmidt’s. The films will simulatenously be available on-demand. From the official press release:

Beginning Friday, October 1st, and continuing throughout the month of October, PUFF (Philadelphia Underground Film Festival) will be celebrating IFC Midnight (the new genre label of IFC Films), with a FREE mini-fest on the big screen, outdoors, at The Piazza at Schmidt’s. PUFF will be presenting 5 brand new IFC Midnight acquisitions, which will simultaneously be made available nationwide via the movies-on-demand platform of major national cable systems, including Cablevision, Comcast, Cox Communications, Time Warner Cable and Bright House, and will be available in approximately 40 million homes.

Straight from Fantastic Fest, the largest genre film festival in the U.S., specializing in horror, fantasy, sci-fi, action and just plain fantastic movies from all around the world, PUFF will be hosting the East Coast Premieres of both HIGH LANE and THE HORDE, The Philadelphia Premiere of PRIMAL, and the North American Premiere of SHADOW, all leading up to a surprise WORLD PREMIERE screening!!

PUFF director Josh Goldboom states, “I’ve always recognized IFC as a leader in cutting edge independent cinema. Their acquisitions department stands on the forefront of both the finest International and Contemporary American Indies. Friday, October 1st – “The Horde” (East Coast Premiere)
Nominated for Best Film at Sitges International Film Festival
An end of the world battle between gangsters, cops and zombies.

Saturday, October 9th – “Primal” (Philadelphia Premiere)
Making its North American Premiere at Fantastic Fest
The film takes place in the Australian outback, where four friends encounter an ancient evil. A parasite in a local watering hole turns beautiful blondes into man-eating creatures and the only way out is through a Neanderthal inhabited cave!

Official Selection of Sitges & London Frightfest
When a young soldier leaves for a mountain biking excursion he meets the girl of his dreams as well a group of violent locals who want to see them dead at any cost.

Friday, October 22nd – “High Lane aka Vertige” (East Coast Premiere)
Also Making its North American Premiere at Fantastic Fest
A group of friends on vacation decide to venture onto a trail high up in the mountains that has been closed for repairs. The climb proves more perilous than planned, especially as they soon realize that they are not alone. The adventure turns into a nightmare.
