The Aurora Picture Show hosts its Extremely Shorts III festival Saturday, June 24th at 7 and 9PM, and Sunday, June 25th at 3PM (with a free picnic beginning beforehand.)
This weekend-long celebration is their most heavily-attended annual program and will feature 3 minute or shorter films and videos submitted from around the globe. The Congregation Picnic takes place in Aurora’s backyard and is open to the public. Free live music will also be featured: Jody Hughes will play Saturday night, before and after the screenings, and Slump will play during the Sunday picnic. This year’s juror was Rebecca Campbell, the Executive Director of the Austin Film Society.
The annual Extremely Shorts series is designed to showcase emerging artists with a do-it-yourself approach to film and video. The 3 minute or shorter format makes film and video making financially viable, and encourages many first time makers to pick up a camera. Thr Aurora Picture Show were thrilled to receive nearly one third of this year’s submissions from Houston!

In order to reduce traffic on Aurora Street (they anticipate a big crowd), Aurora Picture Show would like to suggest a revival of one of human kind’s most fun inventions: THE CAR POOL! People who car pool or use alternative modes of transportation (bikes, feet, roller skates, buses, other) will be rewarded with a FREE PASS to a future Aurora program. Arrive early to get a seat!
