HOUSE PARTY IN MILAN!

By Film Threat Staff | August 18, 2005

The organisation of the X edition of Milano Film Festival is up and running: the event will take place from September 16th to 25th at the Piccolo Teatro and at the Castello Sforzesco. As far as the film competition is concerned, the figures confirm a steep increase of participation compared to the same period last year: nearly 2000 films have been submitted from 90 countries. esterni is preparing a special edition to celebrate this important achievement and to pay particular attention to large number of visitors expected in Milan. After the interest aroused and the success achieved by the Designers’ House during the International Furniture Fair, the Filmmakers’ House is now under construction – a place where artists, film lovers and professionals are invited to experience the Festival atmosphere and to spend a one-of-a-kind holiday in Milan: Milano Film Holidays. To launch this project, esterni has created new partnerships with tour operators, airline and railway companies to help festivalgoers reach Milan from all over the world. Moreover, an accreditation campaign has already started: students and professionals will enjoy special facilities; museums and other cultural institutes will offer concessions to accreditation card holders.

Thanks to the Festival and its Filmmakers’ House, Milan becomes a real tourist place, affordable and even competitive. As it has been done for last year’s festival, esterni has set up an alternative hospitality project, which includes a car-sharing service, an online message board to offer and ask for accommodation, and the Filmmakers’ House.

For the tenth edition of Milano Film Festival esterni is working in collaboration with some tour operators, and is still handling negotiations with other important transport companies (mainly ATM, Milan’s public transport company, and Trenitalia, the national railway company): for instance, Lastminute.com offers promotional packages which include flight, festival accreditation card, night stay at the Filmmakers’ House and 15% discount on car rental. The accreditation card also provides concessions and discounts in museums and other cultural institutes in Milan.

With a high-quality selection of international films, a programme rich in side events and a new kind of hospitality and integration between public and professionals, Milano Film Festival offers the unique opportunity of visiting the city and discovering the most inviting and interesting meeting points.
