HIT THE SUMMER ROAD TRIP VIDEO CONTEST

By Film Threat Staff | July 3, 2003

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the first cross country road trip, and in conjunction with the upcoming Ken Burns documentary, “HORATIO’S DRIVE: AMERICA’S FIRST ROAD TRIP,” PBS is providing aspiring amateur filmmakers a chance to share their most memorable summer adventures with a national television audience. PBS announced today the launch of its “Summer Road Trip Video Contest.”
Using a uniquely personal interpretation of the perfect “Road Trip,” entrants are encouraged to submit a brief video essay of three minutes or less and a synopsis for consideration, to be judged equally on creative concept, technical ability, sound and dialogue. The grand prize winner’s film will air nationally on PBS stations, following the premiere of “HORATIO’S DRIVE” on Monday, October 6. In addition, the winning filmmaker will have the chance to join Ken Burns for a day in New York City. Ten second prize winners will receive an autographed copy of a Ken Burns DVD.
The PBS “Summer Road Trip Video Contest” begins on July 2 and ends August 22.
