GRINDHOUSE FESTIVAL AT THE EGYPTIAN

The American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre presents CHEAP, FAST, AND OUT OF THIS WORLD: THE UNTAMED AGE OF GRINDHOUSE AND DRIVE-IN MOVIES, June 5 – 11, 2003, featuring 17 films screening over 6 days. Highlights include screenings of films currently not available on video such as “CREATURE WITH THE ATOM BRAIN,” “GLORY STOMPERS,” “UNHOLY ROLLERS” and “MACHINE GUN McCAIN,” a Pam Grier double feature of “COFFY” and “FOXY BROWN” and Ann-Margret in “KITTEN WITH A WHIP,” and “IT! THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE” (1958), widely thought of as the inspiration for “ALIEN.”
Scheduled to appear in person are directors Larry Cohen (“IT’S ALIVE,” “GOD TOLD ME TO”), Richard Rush (“HELL’S ANGELS ON WHEELS”), Mark L. Lester (“TRUCK STOP WOMEN”), Vernon Zimmerman (“UNHOLY ROLLERS”) and Jack Hill (“COFFY”) actresses Coleen Gray (“THE VAMPIRE”) and Mary Woronov (“DEATH RACE 2000,” “SUGAR COOKIES”), and actor Rudy Ray Moore (“DOLEMITE”).
Screenings will take place at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.
