GOLDEN GATE AWARDS AT SFIFF

The 45th San Francisco International Film Festival (SFIFF) runs from April 18th through May 2nd, 2002 and seeks to promote film as “a powerful means both of aesthetic expression and of cultural understanding” through their event. The Festival recently announced their annual list of Golden Gate Award winners, and selected honorees in the Film and Video category include:
THE ARTS ^ GOLDEN GATE AWARD: “Rivers and Tides,” Thomas Riedelsheimer (Germany, 90 min.) ^ CERTIFICATE OF MERIT: “Chuck Bowdish: Painter,” Peter Wareing (USA, 33 min.) ^ CERTIFICATE OF MERIT: “Last Dance,” Mirra Bank (USA, 83 min.)
BIOGRAPHY ^ GOLDEN GATE AWARD: “Derrida,” Kirby Dick, Amy Ziering Kofman (USA/France, 85 min.) ^ CERTIFICATE OF MERIT: “Mai’s America,” Marlo Poras (USA/Vietnam, 86 min.) ^ CERTIFICATE OF MERIT: “Raging Dove,” Duki Dror (Israel, 66 min.)
