GOING DOWN

By Admin | January 7, 2005

Okay, what white guy hasn’t been stuck in an elevator with a big black dude who demands sex? That’s what I thought. “Going Down” investigates this routine occurrence, but puts a hilarious spin on it.
Dominic Inzana plays the white guy, and Jimmy Lee Gary, Jr. plays the black chap whose girlfriend just broke up with him. He can’t get lucky in love or laid, so he turns his sex radar on the guy behind him in the elevator. That isn’t going to be good by any stretch of the imagination, but Dominic’s character is a smart one (perhaps too smart) and makes an attempt to turn things around. The rest, as they say, is history.
At just under five minutes, this movie delivers some serious laughs about an uncomfortable subject. There’s not a single disappointment, either (unless you were looking for a hardcore gay porno). Inzana, as the movie’s director, also ends his film on just the right note. If only many of the Hollywood big budget “laugh fests” could boast the same running time, we’d all be a lot happier.
