If you watch TV at all, it’s very hard to avoid the over abundance of dating shows…it may even be hard to stop watching them once you’ve been subject to “Blind Date,” “Elimidate,” “The Fifth Wheel” or any of the others. Let’s face it, watching others’ misery is an infectious taste.
A break from dating show madness any time in the near future seems unlikely as more shows are being developed, each with their own little unique twist, but all serving as a platform for human beings to show off what pigs they are.
One of the newer shows, premiering December 15th on E!, is “Star Dates,” a dating show that sends a lucky (unlucky?) person out on a date with a washed up celebrity. Oof.
The first several episodes will feature dates with Gary Coleman (“Diff’rent Strokes”), Dustin Diamond (Screech from “Saved by the Bell”), Kim Fields (Tootie from “The Facts of Life”), Butch Patrick (Eddie Munster), Jill Whelan (Vickie, the captain’s daughter on “The Love Boat”) and (gulp) Phyllis Diller.
How can you not wanna watch this wreck of a show?
