EXPERIMENTAL CINEMA IN COLORADO

By Film Threat Staff | November 5, 2003

The International Experimental Cinema Exposition and the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center are producing their most elaborate and intense festival of avant-garde cinema to date to take place November 14-16, 2003 in Colorado’s Pikes Peak region.
The festival will screen close to 50 films, host a panel and Q&A sessions with 21 filmmakers, curators and special guests, from Brazil and beyond. Highlights include a Tribute to Gregory Markopoulos; a rare screening of a Hans Richter film featuring the work of Man Ray and Marcel Duchamp, hosted by Standish Lawder who will screen works of his own; films from Brazilians Carlos Adriano and Bernardo Vorobow; a hand-painted masterwork from Stan Brakhage that was completed just before his passing; the classic and only film by French artist and poet, Jean Genet; world premieres by Thorsten Fleisch and several other leading avant-gardists.
