ERIC SAPERSTON’S INCREDIBLE JOURNEY

By Brad Cook | March 19, 2004

When Eric Saperston graduated from college a decade ago, little did he know that a summer spent following the Grateful Dead would turn into a career. Inspired by his college mentor to make something out of the trip, he started scheduling meetings with such people as former President Jimmy Carter, despite the fact that he was living out of his VW bus in campgrounds and making calls from a pay phone.

Soon he was joined by three more people, including his best friend, and that summer trip turned into a multi-year voyage of discovery. He and his crew assembled the footage they shot into a film called The Journey, which played the festival circuit to rave reviews. We caught up with him to find out where his journey is taking him these days.
