By Film Threat Staff | November 9, 2005

Getty Images is looking for THE NEXT BIG IDEA, a peer-judged short-film competition. The films will be the result of a simple brief: Exploring the one thing that links all creative work – The Big Idea – filmmakers will produce a 30 – 60 second film with at least half of the content originating from the vast collection of digital imagery available at www.gettyimages.com. For inspiration and execution, participants have free access to millions of still images and over 90,000 film clips, including high production aerial footage and feature film outtakes from Universal Studios.
All qualifying big ideas will be posted online in late November 2005, while an international panel of film industry professionals selects a shortlist of 25 films. The 25 rough-cuts will be posted, in early 2006, for a final vote – open to all creative peers. Ten films will make the final cut to be screened around the world at industry events and festivals. A grand-prize filmmaker will receive US$10,000.
