CRAZY LIKE KUDZU

The Kudzu Film Festival, which will run from Oct. 18th through the 22nd in Athens, Georgia, is seeking submissions for its 2000 event. At last year’s event, awards were presented by the judges (Gill Holland, Debbie Zimmerman, Alison Bourke, Dr. Richard Neupert and Stratton Leopold) for the following categories: Best Feature, Best Short, Best Animation, and The Seattle Post Affiliates Award for Achievement in 16mm Filmmaking. The Audience Choice Award will be back for 2000, along with a student category and The Turner South Award, which will be presented to a short film (15 minutes or less) which best celebrates “the South” in its theme and tone or tells the most original story about the South.
The Kudzu Film Festival 2000 will be accepting digital video submissions for the first time, although VHS screening copies will be required when submitting. For details on formats please call the festival office for more information.
Also, returning for the Kudzu Film Festival 2000 are traditional highlights including the Morning Coffee Sessions, Lectures/Workshops and Special Screenings, and The Green Lantern Music Showcase at the world famous 40 Watt Club.
