“The Land of College Prophets,” the new feature film from the Hale Manor Collective, will have its premiere screening on Monday, March 7, at the Two Boots Pioneer Theater (155 East 3rd Street @ Avenue A, 212-591-0434). The screening begins at 7:00pm.
“The Land of College Prophets” takes place in a bucolic college town which is also the home to a century-old guild of fighters. The story begins with two excessively violent students, Tommy (Thomas Edward Seymour) and Rye (Philip Guerette), who get into a late-night brawl that accidentally awakens a powerful dark force named The Well That Ate Children—a gigantic three story tall, haunted wishing well that reacts to the violence by unleashing a toxic force that creates a new wave of violent and peculiar behavior throughout the town. Tommy and Rye, recognizing the consequences of their actions, try to destroy the Well’s power and set things right—if they can only find time not to kill each other in the process.
The Hale Manor Collective is a trio of Connecticut-based actors/filmmakers consisting of Thomas Edward Seymour, Philip Guerette and Mike Aransky. They are best known for the 1999 underground cult favorite “Thrill Kill Jack in Hale Manor” and its 2001 award-winning coming-of-age comedy “Everything Moves Alone.” “The Land of College Prophets” co-stars indie film actors Russ Russo and Eric Russell, bodybuilding champion Paul DeSimone, and (making his acting debut) Film Threat critic Phil Hall.
