Karl Horstmann’s first short film, “Cliché,” took home the Jury Prize for Best Narrative Short at the 26th Annual Atlanta Film Festival.
The film, one of 750 films submitted to the festival for consideration, was produced by Horstmann’s company, Triple Horse Entertainment. Last year’s winner in the same category, “The Accountant,” went on to win the Oscar for best live-action short. With the win, “Cliché” is now eligible for Academy Award consideration.
“Cliché” tells the story of a thwarted robbery at a convenience store. The hunter becomes the hunted as crime, violence and justice come together in one small neighborhood store. For the victims, there is one way in and no way out.
