CINEVEGAS JOINS FORCES WITH MYSPACE

By Film Threat Staff | March 9, 2007

The CineVegas Film Festival will partner with MySpace.com, the world’s leading lifestyle portal, on both an online short film competition and the 2007 festival.

For the online short film competition, filmmakers can submit entries by uploading their films on their own MySpace profile pages from March 9 – March 22, 2007. After programmers from the festival review all entries and select three finalists, MySpace users will be able to view and vote on their favorite short film from April 10 – April 20, 2007. The winner will be entered into the official competition at the 2007 CineVegas Film Festival and will also attend the festival’s opening weekend in Las Vegas. Entrants must be at least 21 years of age and videos cannot exceed five minutes in length. For a complete list of rules, please visit the official MySpace CineVegas profile at www.myspace.com/cinevegas. The MySpace CineVegas profile will also keep fans updated on news and announcements through messages, blogs and bulletins.

“We are excited to partner with MySpace for the second year in a row, as this allows us to reach a broader audience of filmmakers and festival-goers through a completely different type of medium,” said Mike Plante, associate director of programming for the CineVegas Film Festival. “With this competition, we also look forward to giving filmmakers the opportunity to display their shorts on a website as far reaching as MySpace.”
