CAROLINA FILM CRAWL

By Film Threat Staff | July 12, 2000

The Colossal Film Crawl is an annual one-day multi-venue film and video festival on Friday, September 14th 2000 in Columbia, South Carolina celebrating short films and videos by artists in the South coordinated by Free Times, Columbia’s alternative newspaper. The festival seeks to encourage the growth of regional alternative and independent filmmaking by providing a needed venue for these efforts.
For the 4th annual film festival this year, they’re including two special topics. The fest is interested in locating films and videos relating to the visual arts culture of the South — found footage, historical documentaries, short features, experimental videos, etc. about artists living in or visiting the South.
In addition, they’re interested in screening works made with the aid of the new digital technologies and/or work that has recently debuted in non-traditional formats such as on the web. Some of the works screened at the Colossal Film Crawl will be solicited by the film search committee. The remainder will be screened from an open call.
