GUEST BIO:
When I Walk, (Dir: Jason DaSilva, Producer/Writer/co-editor Alice Cook) follows the 7 year journey filmmaker and artist Jason DaSilva; who finds out he has a severe form of multiple sclerosis. Along the way, an unlikely miracle changes everything.

Jason’s first collaborative feature film was Cuba Dreams, shot in Havana in 1999 and screened at the Latin America Film Festival in Cuba later that year. His last documentary, From The Mouthpiece On Back premiered at AFI/Dallas in 2008. He established WhenIWalkInc. – a non-profit with a mission to serve people with MS and other disabilities through media awareness and advocacy.

Running From Crazy- Dir. Barbara Kopple with Mariel Hemingway
Hailed as one of the most distinguished families in American literature, the Hemingways have always exposed both their bright brilliance and their harrowing secrets. Barbara Kopple focuses her newest film on Mariel Hemingway, a granddaughter of the legendary writer Ernest, as she explores her family’s disturbing history of mental illness and suicide.

Barbara Kopple is the two-time Academy Award–winning director and producer of Harlan County U.S.A. (1976) and American Dream (1991), which remains the only film to sweep the Sundance Film Festival’s documentary award categories. Her other documentaries include Gun Fight (2011), The House of Steinbrenner (2010), Woodstock: Now & Then (2009), Shut Up & Sing (2006), My Generation (2000), A Conversation with Gregory Peck (1999), Wild Man Blues (1997), and Fallen Champ: The Untold Story of Mike Tyson (1993). She also directed Havoc, a narrative feature film starring Anne Hathaway, in 2005

After Tiller – Martha Shane and Lana Wilson
After the assassination of Dr. George Tiller in Kansas in 2009, there are now only four doctors left in the country who provide third-trimester abortions for women. AFTER TILLER moves between the rapidly unfolding stories of these doctors, all of whom were close colleagues of Dr. Tiller, and are fighting to keep this service available in the wake of his death.

Lana Wilson (director/producer) is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker. After Tiller, which she directed and produced, is her first film. Wilson is also the Film and Dance Curator for Performa, the New York biennial of new visual art performance.

Martha Shane (director/producer) is a Brooklyn-based documentary filmmaker and editor. From 2006 to 2008, she co-directed, produced, and co-edited the feature documentary Bi the Way, which had its premiere at the SXSW film festival in 2008 and debuted on MTV’s LOGO channel in summer 2009.
