BURN

By Mark Bell | February 2, 1998

In trying to describe “Burn” it may be necessary invent a word stronger than intense. This, well, really, really, really intense film takes place entirely in an apartment and follows Ben, a writer with hidden demons. Ben is soon joined by Tom, an old high school buddy and rival who screwed Ben’s old girlfriend. The film devolves into a thriller that can best be described as the ultimate mindf–k. Featuring luscious cinematography and the best acting in any film seen at Slamdance, “Burn” also won a special jury prize for simply blowing away the judges. Superb.
