Casey Safron, manager of the animation department at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan has organized an end of summer animation festival, going down September 9th in Brookyln.
The festival, called Animation Block Party, will be showing the best recent films from the top colleges in New York (NYU, SVA, etc) as well as the works from many of the animation professors at these schools (Don Duga, Irra Verbitsky, Howard Beckerman, Matt Sheridan, etc). Top independent New York animators such as Bill Plympton, Jeff Scher, Peter Sluskza, Richard Gorey and Emily Hubley are screening their independent work, and some of their shorts are actually premiering at the Animation Block Party.
