BOITE

By Bob Westal | May 2, 2003

A strange, three-legged figure skates around to music…. and then the figure stops cold as part of a face appears in the “sky” above….We realize the figure is in a box. The box closes and the skating resumes.
It’s hard to describe the beauty of Randy Ramsey’s “Boite”, which relies on what appears to be simple-stop motion animation combined with computer effects and the simplest of live action to create a memorable dream landscape. With haunting “Swanee” like music by the late 80’s cult band Camper Van Beethoven, this a haunting short, well worth two minutes of anyone’s time.
