It’s back, it’s black and better than ever – the San Francisco Black Film Festival will run June 11 through June 15. Now in its fifth year, the SFBFF has grown from 400 to 3,000 attendees and attracts a first-class cast of national and international filmmakers, celebrities and industry executives.
“We have received more than 100 films with an array of subjects from the first black biker club in the U.S. to an exploration of race-identity within the punk scene,” said Ave Montague, festival founder and director. “But that’s just the beginning. Festival special events are always a highlight, designed to be enlightening as well as entertaining. There’s the Casting, Digital Film and Screenwriting workshops, the awards ceremony, programs for children and surprise celebrity guests. We are especially honored to present Billy Dee Willams with the Pioneer Award and happy that he will host a special showing of his art work at the San Francisco Art Exchange in San Francisco to benefit the San Francisco Black Film Festival.”
