Taking place March 29th through April 6th, the 2003 Ozark Foothills FilmFest will include “The Best of Ottawa 2002,” a compilation of eleven prize-winning animated films from North America’s premier animation festival. The films selected for this touring program represent a total of seven countries and every animation style, including both 2D and 3D computer animation. This approximately 90-minute compilation features all of the 2002 major award winners.

Home Road Movies. 2001. Robert Bradbrook. UK. 12 minutes, 18 seconds. Technique: 3D Computer. Grand Prize for Best Independent Short Film. The real-life story of a father who desperately wanted the family car to make him a better parent.
Tornehekken (The Hedge of Thorns). 2001. Anita Killi. Norway. 13 minutes. Technique: Cut-outs. Best Film Made for Chldren. War separates two playmates.
Mont Blanc. 2001. Priit Tender. Estonia. 10 minutes. Technique: Cel, 2D Computer. Featured in Official Competition. The eternal quest for Mont Blanc—The White Mountain.
Coldplay: ‘Don’t Panic’. 2001. Tim Hope. UK. 3 minutes, 15 seconds. Technique: Cut-outs, 3D computer, live action. Best Music Video. The song describes how our world is at risk from floods and other environmental disasters that we have managed to unleash.
Samurai Jack: Jack and the Blind Archers. 2001. Genndy Tartakovsky. USA. 23 minutes, 54 seconds. Technique: Drawing on Cels. Best Television Series. Jack must get past three blind archers to reach an all-powerful wishing well.
Twang. 2002. Christopher Hinton. Canada. 1 minute, 12 seconds. Technique: 2D Computer. Best Animation for the Internet. A startlingly and ambiguously tangy bit of twang for web connoisseurs.
Leunig: ‘How Democracy Actually Works’. 2001. Australia. 1 minute. Technique: Puppets. Most Hilarious Film. Electoral process humor.
Slakt & Vanner (Family & Friends). 2002. Jonas Odell. Sweden. 12 minutes. Public Prize. A glimpse into family life.
NSPCC: ‘Cartoon’. 2002. UK. Frank Budgen & Russell Brooke. 1 minute. 2D Computer and Live Action. Grand Prize for Best Commissioned Film. This commercial uses the conventions of cartoon violence in a very unusual way to underline the horror of real violence.
“Best of 2002 Ottawa International Animation Festival” will be shown at Independence Hall on the campus of the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville on Saturday, April 5, at 4:00 p.m. Admission is $5.00, $3.00 for students and seniors.
The second annual Ozark Foothills FilmFest will be held March 29 through April 6, 2003 in Batesville.
