AURORA DOES DADA Image

For one night only, on [ December 9th at 8 and 10PM ] , the Aurora Picture Show of Houston, TX. pays tribute to the reactionary and innovative absurdist art movement known as dada — named as such for its nonsenicalness as much as its newness. The movement, which began as an inflamed reaction to World War I, spread its enormous influence in the art world within most every discipline, including film, and the fruits of the dadaists are still apparent in many modern creations.
The silent films on the Aurora screen all date back to 1924 through 1928, which was a generative time for avant-garde film. Works by Man Ray, Marcel Duchamp, and Rene Clair will all be featured, and a seamless live musical accompaniment will round out the show.
