ANNE THOMPSON NAMED INDIEWIRE EDITOR-AT-LARGE; TODD MCCARTHY LEAVES

By Mark Bell | October 7, 2010

This news is not that surprisingly, but Anne Thompson has been named Editor-at-Large of indieWIRE.

According to Rick Allen, CEO of SnagFilms/indieWIRE:

“In this additional role at IW, Anne will join us in the search for an editor-in-chief to build on indieWIRE’s strong DNA and help us chart our future growth.”

So, if you were wondering, this does not mean Anne is now editor-in-chief of indieWIRE. She goes on in the article to state herself that the current editorial leadership is under longtime indieWIRE staffer Brian Brooks:

“I believe in indieWIRE and am committed to its vital mission to support ‘filmmakers, biz, fans,'” said Anne Thompson, “a mission which continues under the direction of managing editor and ten-year indieWIRE vet Brian Brooks and his staff. Forbes has called indieWIRE the ‘online heartbeat of the world’s independent film community’ – I’m delighted to help that heart beat even stronger.”

Congrats, Anne! Now why did you stop following us on Twitter? Huh?

In other indieWIRE news, blogger Todd McCarthy is moving on to work fulltime for The Hollywood Reporter. His departure is second only to the earlier announced departure of co-founder and former editor-in-chief Eugene Hernandez. Simply a lot of goings on a transpiring at the ole indieWIRE…
