ACTOR CALLS FOR KARLOFF BIOPIC, IN AN ODD MANNER…

By Film Threat Staff | September 3, 2009

Actor Connor Timmis, an unabashed Boris Karloff nut, has called for a major studio to finance a biopic about his favorite actor. This putative biopic would star – you guessed it! – himself. Timmis has the look and gets made up just like his inspiration, and his line reading is damn close to the lispy Karloff style. Yet, Timmis’ method of promoting his idea is odd…and unorthodox. His film, “Kreating Karloff,” now on DVD, continually restates his desire to play his idol. Talking head interviews stress how great he would be, while the film offers minimal screen test footage. “Kreating” never even attempts to investigate the Karloff legend, which helped solidify American horror iconography though two major archetypes. One committed to such an undertaking like Timmis’ should be at least curious. A true documentary, or an extended sales pitch? We thought the former. Get more info here.
