The following nights feature “LA STRADA”, one of Fellini’s favorites, starring Anthony Quinn; “THE WHITE SHEIK”, played by the great Italian comic Alberto Sordi; the satirical “I VITELLONI” that influenced such films as “AMERICAN GRAFFITI” and “DINER”; “JULIET OF THE SPIRITS” with Fellini’s wife and muse, the incomparable Giulietta Masina; “THE SWINDLE”, starring Broderick Crawford, and “NIGHTS OF CABIRIA”.
Also programmed are other classics from Federico Fellini such as the hypnotic and controversial “SATYRICON”; the quasi-documentary “THE CLOWNS”; “ROMA”, an homage to his beloved city; the timeless “LA DOLCE VITA”, starring a brilliant Marcello Mastroiani; Fellini’s adaptation of “CASANOVA”; the metaphorical “ORCHESTRA REHEARSAL”; the lighthearted and carnival-esque “AND THE SHIP SAILS ON”; “AMARCORD”, the last great critical success of Fellini; and a double feature of “CITY OF WOMEN” and “GINGER AND FRED”, both starring Fellini’s faithful collaborator Marcello Mastroiani.
