The series, “Cinema Italian Style”, curated by Silvia Bizio & Dennis Bartok, will run from June 4-13, 2004, with a kick off night at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science on June 3, with screenings of 14 different films & documentaries. Selected films not only capture moments in Italian cinema but are examples pertaining to a changing Italian society and individual’s aspirations.
Opening night is June 4th at the Egyptian Theatre with the screening of (Part I) of a six-hour film “LA MEGLIO GIOVENTU’” (BEST OF YOUTH) by Marco Tullio Giordana (soon to be released by Miramax in the US). “BEST OF YOUTH” is a portrait of forty years in the life of one Italian family and the unbreakable bond between two brothers. The series closes with the Los Angeles premiere of “NON TI MUOVERE” (Don’t Move), a new drama from director/actor Sergio Castellitto, starring Penelope Cruz as a lonely Albanian woman who falls into a relationship with a married doctor.
