A SIM-PLE ROMANCE

By Pete Vonder Haar | March 12, 2007

2007 SXSW SHORT FILM! Maggie’s social life isn’t so hot lately. Friends are constantly canceling dinner plans, leaving her with little to do but eat ice cream and play The Sims 2. That is, until she notices some startling similarities between her virtual friend and her real-life neighbor.

“A Sim-Ple Romance” is a rather enjoyable short film that puts forth one possibility for intersection between real life and computer simulation, and one that’s considerably less sinister than any of that Stephen King stuff.

Now for the disclaimers: Film Threat founder Chris Gore co-stars, and Film Threat writer Sally Foster wrote and directed the short. One may choose my reviewing it to be a conflict of interest, but believe me when I say if I hadn’t liked it, you’d have known.
