Slice

By Michael Talbot-Haynes | October 28, 2026

One could criticize how the first and third tales of Slice have similar elements, as both deal with dudes being offered money to chop their balls off to get out of the hole drugs dug for them. They also deal with the refined upper crust, as that sort is always out to grab your balls and run. They also both feature figures in black cloaks, as well as unspeakable acts. However, as the framing story reveals, it is these two stories that reveal the basis of the shadowy, ball-lopping world that crawls behind us, nipping at our sack endlessly. If all three had been in the “cloak and balls” style, maybe that would have been redundant. But the way it is has the perfect measurement of ingredients for an elegant feast of balls. In the end, this is a new high water mark for castration operas.

A man in a dark suit lurks in a shadowy, ornate room in Slice.

“…Slice shows you how drug horror has no boundaries, just like the real thing.”

Now before I start gushing, let it be known that Slice is a feral, street-level horror indie, proudly brandishing its warts. Everything is served up Herschell Gordon Lewis raw, with nails sticking out everywhere. I think it is fucking great, like a condemned pier that kids like to get hurt on: fun but dangerous. Some of the dialogue goes on a little long, but then says something brilliant. The acting isn’t polished, but it sure is spirited. Due to the subject matter, there is lots of nudity, mostly full male frontal. However, there is some choice female nudity in the third story, which is a rarity in today’s post-exploitation environment. Just don’t expect a lot of high-level flash, just a bunch of low-level slash.

If you can get past the subterranean appearance, you will find Slice to be one of the most awesome WTF party movies of the 21st century. I am a grown-ass man in my mid-50s, yet I was squirming while watching between my fingers. This is especially true for the de-balling in the third act, which is done in close-up in excruciating detail. Mind you, all the sack-sawing scenes are top-notch, but that third testicle removal took the cake, right out of the nut sack. If you get a roomful of folks drunk and high, then unleash this movie in the room, you will have a gala event talked about for ages. You can also hold a side contest over who pukes first, as well as who is still holding it in at the end. We are talking a barf-a-rama that could start an adult sleepover scene out of nowhere. If you want something beyond the walls of taste, Slice is a horror movie that is a cut above the competition.
