While it is no surprise that the famous 1491er Goldtooth is funny, it is interesting to see him get a little serious here and there in this movie. While one of the funniest men on Earth, Goldtooth, has some real acting chops that Horn puts on display.

Let’s talk revenge for a bit. In order to pull off effective vengeance, you need an act of severe injustice to be committed that the audience will immediately want avenged. In Seeds, the atrocious act committed is so heinous that it is usually a deal-breaker for me as a viewer. However, Horn makes it work in a way I never thought of, which made it bearable and highly effective. You also need a villain who draws your hate with the power of a collapsed star. Garrow is outstanding as a villain, as he oozes the same cold creepiness you get staring into the eye of a great white.

“Horn continues today’s evolution of the classic grindhouse tradition…”

All of these elements are important as they will transform the audience’s perspective on the big, bloody pay-off in the finale. In a lot of ways, the traditional grindhouse revenge picture was always a black mass of atrocities committed to justify a lethal reaction. Horn harnesses this dark energy immediately in the opening, explicitly explaining the extremities that are coming up, then seals the deal with one of the most cathartic climaxes seen in modern cinema. There are many ways to resolve a dispute. The resolution in Seeds is totally bad-a*s and incomprehensibly justified. It is one of those moments that is built up to so perfectly that its execution overwhelms you with inappropriate exaltation. Like the sleeper smash  The Ritual Killer, word of mouth will spread to all corners of the globe about the f****d up s**t that happens at the end of Seeds and how wonderful it is. Horn has made something that is not just important, it is also berserk fun to such an extent that it qualifies as a controlled substance.
