Next in a series of experimental movies from filmmaker Kendall York comes Pooh Goes to the Woods: The Final Adventure. Working off of exactly no budget, York takes us into the shadowy depths of A.A. Milne’s iconic fantasy land.
A couple sets off on a hike through the 100 Acre Woods, not knowing Winnie the Pooh is stalking them with a knife. The whole film plays like an old VHS tape, complete with a cheesy feature-presentation opener and on-screen video imperfections.

Like most horror films, this one has the obligatory sex scene, accompanied by a title card informing us that the MPAA has asked for the scene to be removed, followed by a horrific slasher scene that another title card says could not be completed for budgetary reasons.
Writer/director York brings us another homage to, and satire of, his love of films and his experience as an indie filmmaker. When you don’t have the money to make a million-dollar slasher film, why not describe the action and let audiences imagine it or tell their own story in their heads? York also has fun with green-screened locations that simply don’t exist in his neck of the woods. This humorous conceit is a bit of a filmmaker’s cheat, but why not indulge in the silliness?
Personally, I would have liked to see more effort put into the film, but Pooh Goes to the Woods: The Final Adventure is 100% Kendall York.
