In Joseph McGovern’s short film Is This The Bed We Lie In? he captures a moment in time for a troubled couple. Robert and Jennifer are seemingly a loving couple, but Jennifer finds herself unfulfilled and satisfied and wants to try something new, something real. Robert is caught blindsided and feels like it’s his fault.

Running at a brisk four minutes, Is This The Bed We Lie In? simply captures the moment of Jennifer’s confession. We see the distress she feels when she tells the truth about her feelings, and we end up with Robert’s confusion and guilt. While done on a budget, the story is captured in its quick runtime. My only criticism is that the lighting should be improved next time. Ultimately, McGovern effectively captured the emotions of the moments.
