Director (and DP) Michael Metzler Jr. and Writer Grant Clover present I Walk With Ghosts, a thoughtful, poetic short film with a delicate message about the afterlife. Drifting through his day, a man is followed by ghosts. He sees them lurking over the shoulders of strangers and standing firmly like a statue in public spaces. Draped in a simple white sheet, these ghosts are not there to scare but are drifting along themselves, searching for meaning. The main character engages with these ghosts and is given a glimpse of their past lives while he ponders his own.
“…poetic short film with a delicate message of afterlife…”
The title might lead you to expect something spooky, but phantom hauntings are not the focus here. I Walk With Ghosts is a meditative visual experience shot with sedated cinematography backed with an emotional string score. Imagine if The Sixth Sense existed as a scene in a Terrance Malick film.
Rather than just supernatural entities, the figures in white represent real people who had real-life experiences. The main character grapples with the knowledge of their demise and the beauty of their existence. I Walk With Ghosts is a poignant piece evoking feelings of life, loss, and existence itself.
