HOLLYSHORTS 2020 FILM FESTIVAL REVIEW! In the short CG animated film, Hot Dog, our unnamed protagonist is a mutt who falls madly in love at first sight with a fetching, upper-crust female dog across the landscaped grounds of a gated mansion. He must navigate a gauntlet of obstacles to reach the object of his desire. His nemesis, the robot lawnmower, must be vanquished before he can claim a moment with his lady fair in a seemingly quixotic quest that is both heroic and hilarious.
“…a mutt…falls madly in love at first sight with a fetching, upper-crust female dog…”
Hot Dog is the graduation project of five students of the French école des Nouvelles Images, but primarily the work of Flore Buran, 3D modeler.
The vibe is very much in the old Saturday morning cartoon tradition, with music to match. There is no dialog. The animation for Hot Dog is impeccable and used to perfect effect to tell the story of the gallant canine knight errant.
Hot Dog screened at the 2020 Hollyshorts Film Festival.
