PALM SPRINGS INTERNATIONAL SHORTFEST 2025 REVIEW! Animation can be a lengthy and painstaking process, but seeing a smile on a child’s face makes it all worthwhile. Nathan Engelhardt and Jeremy Spears took over five years to create Forevergreen, utilizing over 200 animators who donated their time and talent for free.
The 13-minute short is about a young bear cub who gets taken in by a fatherly tree. The overzealous bear has too much fun at a campsite full of trash, leading to a huge fire. Of course, the fire poses a grave danger to the bear and the tree.

In Forevergreen, a young bear cub forms a heartwarming bond with a fatherly tree, blending humor and emotion in this animated short.
“The overzealous bear has too much fun at a campsite full of trash…”
The animation is fantastic. The storyline of the circle of life and looking out for others is tender and sweet. Forevergreen ends with a Bible quote, “Great love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friend.” – John 15:13
Engelhardt and Spears have worked on hits such as Encanto, Big Hero 6, Wreck-It-Ralph, Frozen, Moana, and Zootopia. Their wealth of experience comes through in this heartfelt tale. My son loved Forevergreen, and so did I.

"…fantasic."
