For some of the wackiest sci-fi since Douglas Adams stuck his thumb out, get ready to enjoy the end of the world again in the post-apocalyptic cooking adventure Cuisine De La ‘Pocalypse, written and directed by Kyle Weingart. It turns out that all of the different theories as to how civilization would fall were all correct. Everything went wrong at once, with the earth opening up, the aliens coming down, the zombies rising, and solar-powered robots slaughtering anything that moves during the day.

Hidden away in Montana from the destruction is an outpost of survivors who live by night in the trailer city of New Missoula, keeping their existence a secret from the outside. But that won’t stop John (Kevin Jack) from pursuing his dream of being a TV chef. He has been filming a cooking show outside of his camper with his two tiny nieces, Minnie (Charlie Weingart) and Mollie (Lily Weingart), working the camera and producing.

“Everything went wrong at once, with the earth opening up, the aliens coming down, the zombies rising and solar powered robots slaughtering anything that moves…”

John’s sister-in-law, Laura (Zuzu Weingart), doesn’t like her daughters working on the show, while John is furious that Laura’s dulling the girls’ palates with cruddy old granola bars. John has a knack for fusing flavors while keeping everything gluten-free. Laura’s father, Wallace (Douglas “Hurricaine” Hall) could give a pig’s a*s whether the food is gluten free or not, as long as John whips him up a classic plate of old fashioned breakfast each night.

When John tries to upload his cooking show VHS to the internet connection Gray (Braedon Sorbo) just hooked up, someone in California immediately starts to download it. Realizing this could compromise the location of New Missoula to the outside world, a group is sent out into the wasteland to stop the transmission from being completed. As it is over an old dial-up connection, they only have 13 days before it will be downloaded and their game will be given up.

Evoking the immortal Douglas Adams when speaking of sci-fi comedy made in current year is a bold strategy, Cotton… I look forward to checking this flick out!
