The best thing I can say about Ben Callner’s short film, Adman, is just sit back and enjoy. Simply put, the short film tells the story of regular guy named Logan (Ted Cannon) and his romance and marriage to Allie (Jocelin Donahue).
“Logan’s story is told through a television commercial…”
As the title might suggest, each chapter of Logan’s story is told through a television commercial. It starts with Logan moving out of his overbearing mother’s home as a telecom commercial (I think). His first glance at Allie at work is a commercial for ballpark peanuts. Logan and Allie’s first meeting is told as an ad for a desert snack and their first sexual encounter is an ice cream ad.
Ben Callner’s Adman is great because it’s clever, each moment has a joke, and you’re going to laugh out loud. There’s a sweetness and brilliant irony to Logan’s story. It’s just plain fun.
Adman screened at the 2019 HollyShorts Film Festival.
