Horror fans have a treat in store. Wild Eye Releasing has acquired acclaimed Portuguese horror film The Forest of the Lost Souls and scheduled its North American debut for August 5th in L.A.
Directed by José Pedro Lopes, the film presents a “coming of age slasher” tale. A well-received world premiere was held at the Fantasporto Film Festival 2017 in Porto, Portugal.
The forest is a fictional place between Portugal and Spain, an infamous suicide spot. One morning two complete strangers, Ricardo and Carolina, meet in the woods seemingly by chance, both intending to end their own lives. After the random encounter they decide to briefly postpone killing themselves in order to explore the forest and also to continue talking to one another, as each is intrigued by the other. However as they go further into the forest it becomes clear that one of them is not who they appear to be.
