With a broad spectrum of film subjects along with international filmmakers, SVFF Streaming covers a tremendous amount of independent film and projects for a scaled-back event. “It’s not easy to program a small slate because it is so difficult to tell people their film will not be part,” explains Grennan. “There are serious and fun documentaries such as Kid Candidate and RUTH: Justice Ginsburg in Her Own Words with Freida Lee Mock, who is a hometown player. It will be interesting to see how the film Searchers will be received and See You Then by Mari Walker is fantastic. Marvelous and the Black Hole is a film that allows us to show our eclectic diversity as a coming-of-age movie. And I’m excited for the Sun Valley audience to see We Are as Gods and also stream some of the cool kid films this year, including Superior and Women is Losers, to name a few films, but everything we have programmed is incredible.”
“…plans to introduce a year-round film society with screenings, especially for patrons.”
SVFF Streaming will also be streaming a dynamic 8-film shorts block along with several more narrative and documentary films: Everything in the End, How It Ends, Playing for Keeps, Playing with Sharks, Searchers, Secrets of Whales, Taming the Garden, and Try Harder!.
With supporters including Ford Motor Company, National Geographic, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Our Gorongosa, Variety, and a community of generous patrons, SVFF is able to maintain several of its prizes and awards while celebrating the art of storytelling which include winners for the Sun Valley Screenwriters Lab, Future Filmmakers Forum, and the return of the Ford Producers Grant with its $25,000 grand prize. In addition, SVFF plans to introduce a year-round film society with screenings, especially for patrons. Winter screenings have been occurring for several years, but Grennan and Pate are working on other events throughout the year as we all get back to enjoying independent films in person and with each other.
