Fathom Events presents an encore screening of Peter Jackson‘s documentary They Shall Not Grow Old in select theaters on Tuesday, December 17, and Wednesday, December 18. Most screenings will be presented in 3D. Tickets are available at Fathom Events or participating theaters. It received a 9 out of 10 from Film Threat.

In They Shall Not Grow Old, Jackson tells the story of the brave men of England and their love of country in what was the first and should have been last world war. His restored footage is overlayed entirely with the testimonies of WWI veterans, who were there in the middle of it all. The story starts at the declaration of war in a time when the newspaper was the only form of mass communication.

“…its images will haunt you as everything you see is real.”

His restoration included sifting through thousands of feet of film, cleaning up film damaged by archaic film technology and the deterioration of time, colorizing the black and white originals, and re-recording ambient sounds, dialogue, and military weapons. The documentary is narrated by actual soldiers and its images will haunt you as everything you see is real.

They Shall Not Grow Old has become one of Fathom’s most successful and most requested titles. The December presentations will include both an introduction to the film by Jackson as well as a post-film exploration of how the film was made.
