By Film Threat Staff | August 6, 2002

Festival favorite “Perfume de Violetas” will open San Diego’s Fourth Annual Cine Mexicano: Mexican Film Series on August 9th.
Written and directed by Maryse Sistach, “Perfume de Violetas” finds the director setting her sights on the mounting problem of sexual assault in Mexico City. She fictionalizes the true story of a friendship between two adolescent girls, torn apart when one of them is viciously raped.
“Perfume de Violetas” will be screened for one week only beginning August 9th and ending August 15th. The Cine Mexicano: Mexican Film Series will run through November 14th. All screenings will take place at the new MadStone Movie Theaters located in Hazard Center in San Diego¹s Mission Valley.
