The Palm Springs International Film Society has officially announced the dates for the 38th Palm Springs International Film Festival, which will run from January 7 through January 18, 2027, in Palm Springs, California. The festival will kick off with the Film Awards, presented by Kering, on Thursday, January 7, at the Palm Springs Convention Center, with screenings beginning the following day on Friday, January 8. The lineup will also include an Opening Night presentation on January 8, a Closing Night event on Sunday, January 17, and wrap with Best of Fest and special programming on Monday, January 18.
As one of the earliest stops on the road to the Oscars, PSIFF continues to flex its awards-season muscle. According to the announcement, nearly all honorees at the 2026 Film Awards went on to receive Academy Award nominations, including Jessie Buckley, Rose Byrne, Timothée Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jacob Elordi, Elle Fanning, Ethan Hawke, Kate Hudson, Michael B. Jordan, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Renate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgård, and Chloé Zhao. The festival also screened all five nominees for Best International Feature Film, with Sirât taking the top FIPRESCI jury prize.
Looking ahead, the Society also confirmed that the Palm Springs International ShortFest is scheduled for June 23–29, 2026. Festival and Film Awards passes for the 2027 edition will go on sale August 1. The Palm Springs International Film Society says its mission remains focused on promoting film through education and cross-cultural awareness, while continuing to serve as both an Oscar-season launching pad and a major showcase for international cinema.
