By Film Threat Staff | August 9, 2002

On September 10th at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles, legendary anime director Hayao Miyazaki (“Princess Mononoke”, “The Castle of Cagliostro”) will make a special appearance to present a sneak preview of his latest film “Spirited Away”.
In “Spirited Away”, a young girl, Chihiro, on holiday with her parents accidentally stumbles into an enchanted village where ancient Japanese demons go for rest and relaxation. After her parents are unfortunately transformed into enormous pigs, Chihiro is forced to take a job as a cleaning girl in a devil-filled Japanese bath house, where she contends with eight-legged spider-men, gorgeous sky-dragons and a silent, love-struck wraith.
“Spirited Away” won the 2002 Japanese Academy Award for Best Picture and the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival. The Japanese DVD of “Spirited Away” was also one of the hottest items at last weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con.
“Spirited Away” opens to theaters in Los Angeles and New York on September 20th.
