Coming off of a groundbreaking first year, the Mammoth Film Festival is adding to the excitement of the this year’s festival — taking place at Mammoth Lakes, CA, on February 7th through February 11th 2019 — with a newly unveiled sponsorship from the Litecoin Foundation.
One of the world’s largest and most popular cryptocurrencies, Litecoin will be awarded to this year’s festival winners as part of their prizes. The Litecoin Foundation will also have several team members in attendance who will be networking with attendees, educating them about cryptocurrency and Litecoin, and helping them set up wallets to experience the power of Litecoin firsthand.
“When we spoke to the festival’s founders, they immediately expressed the growing enthusiasm and support for Litecoin we’re seeing amongst the filmmaking community,” said Charlie Lee, Creator of Litecoin and Managing Director of the Litecoin Foundation. “As we push for mainstream adoption, it makes sense to partner with a festival that is comprised of people who bring new ideas and visions to the world through the content they create, and one we can grow with through the years. ”
Tanner Beard, President of Mammoth Film Festival summed it up nicely by saying, “As we establish ourselves as a new festival in an already dense market, it makes a great deal of sense for us to throw the old pattern away. We feel it’s important to look forward in an ever-changing landscape of not just film and television, but in the worlds of tech, virtual reality, social media and currency. The Litecoin Foundation is an organization that fits right in with all those ideas.”
The festival, which debuted in 2017, was deemed “the biggest first year film festival ever organized.” With the beautiful town of Mammoth Lakes, California as its backdrop, “#MammothFF” is held in multiple venues in and around town, including The Minaret Cinemas. This year aims to be a bigger, better repeat with multiple world premieres in competition to take home the festival’s robust awards.
The 2019 Festival will features a star-studded lineup with nine total world premiere features and over a dozen world premiere star studded shorts, including the Mads Mikkelsen survival thriller Arctic; Josh Duhamel’s Buddy Games starring Olivia Munn and Dax Shepard; the Jean-Claude Van Damme-led crime drama We Die Young; Carte Blanche from director Eva Dolezalova starring Suki Waterhouse, Dylan Sprouse, and Jack Kilmer; and the long awaited comedy Airplane Mode starring Logan Paul, Brittany Furlan, King Bach and many of the biggest names in social media all in one film.
Litecoin was created by Charlie Lee in 2011 and is built on the premise of quick confirmation times and low transaction fees. These features, combined with the increasing desire to have greater control over one’s finances, are quickly propelling Litecoin towards becoming the new global payments standard for consumers and businesses worldwide.
