You’ll float too — in an 87-foot dome. Cosm and Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that IT, New Line Cinema’s 2017 adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, will become the first horror title in Cosm’s Shared Reality format, debuting August 28, 2026, at Cosm venues in Los Angeles, Dallas, and Atlanta. A Detroit run will follow at a later date.
For the uninitiated, Cosm’s venues wrap audiences in 87-foot-diameter, 12K+ LED domes, using the company’s fulldome production technology to pull viewers inside the movie rather than just in front of it. For IT, that means the eerie woods, haunted sewers, and shadowy corners of Derry, Maine — with intensified sound design and dynamic environments built around the film. In other words, Pennywise will be everywhere, including behind you.
IT is the fourth title in Cosm’s experiential cinema slate, following The Matrix, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone — and the first built to scare the daylights out of a room full of people at once. The production is a collaboration between Cosm, Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema, Little Cinema, and Double Dream, the company founded by IT filmmakers Andy and Barbara Muschietti.

“Together, we are taking horror beyond the frame, creating an immersive experience to deliver thrills unlike anything fans have experienced before,” said Alexis Scalice, Vice President of Business Development and Entertainment at Cosm.
Jay Rinsky, Chief Creative Officer at Little Cinema, put it this way: “The Matrix taught us to question reality itself, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory taught us wonder, and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone taught us magic. IT teaches us fear, and we’re treating every shadow, every silence, and every red balloon as a chance to invent something the medium hasn’t seen yet.”
Directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay by Chase Palmer, Cary Fukunaga, and Gary Dauberman, the original IT remains the highest-grossing horror film of all time. Nearly a decade later, it’s getting a new way to give you nightmares.
