Pop culture-inspired art can be a thing of beauty, especially when it is as painstakingly crafted as the pieces by Bay-Area artist Robert Xavier Burden. Burden’s work is simply mesmerizing. He once spent 2,000 hours and two years to complete a 15′ x 8′ Star Wars painting. In this video, you can see Burden complete a similar painting of Thundercats.
January 7th through February 5th, Burden’s wall-filling work can be seen at Gregorio Escalante Gallery in Chinatown in downtown Los Angeles. Original Myth explores the way we view the iconography of geek and pop culture with almost religious reverence. Do not miss this stunning art show.
