The show was conceived after the success of Tim Chizmar’s nudist comedy film, The Nudels of Nudeland, which streams on Troma Now and snagged two nominations at the Film Threat Award This! ceremony in 2023. Inspired by the idea of a naturist reality or game show, Tim was approached by a longtime collaborator of Clint Eastwood, who had previously worked on a nudist documentary. With a limited indie budget and a dedicated team, Naked & Not Afraid was born and filmed over two nights in a theater near Pasadena, CA. Additional segments were shot at a nudist bed and breakfast, with help from organizations like the Southern California Naturist Association (SCNA) and Clothesfree International for marketing.
